This is a new village called Padela. The home we visit today sits on the hill and one is down the valley. It’s a respected family because the family members are the officers. It’s hard to get into this village not until last year. A local volunteer visited this place relentlessly to convince the people here. As he get their trust, he introduces the members of ALFA to promote hygiene here.

There are 10 people in their family, including mother, father and 7 children. The father went to school till ninth grade. The oldest son is at 10^th. Basically, they can afford all their children to the municipal school. This family keeps a donkey as a vehicle to ship the grains or corns they grow. They also keep cows and goats for milk and dogs for guards. They don’t have much time to idle because they get to clean around the house and work in the farm. It’s interesting that they also brew the Rum in their house which gives off fragrant smell. It takes 75 days to ferment fruit well.

The mother has hypertension. The father had diarrhea few days ago. We think it’s due to the water. Their teeth, I mean everyone, are very bad. Most of them get a full mouth decay. Some of them have only root remained.

Postscript

This was a really scenic place bordered by Gujuarite state. Little marbles stones scattered around the hills. The breeze here was cold enough to get rid of the heat, which makes us sweltering. We took the taxi to the bottom of hills then we climbed all the way to the top with our bags and poster. It was definitely a tough work.

After the PE, we find out that they had horrible teeth. As this is a remote area, being far away from the city center. It’s almost out of reach of hospitals, doctors and dentists. We are kind of sad that we didn’t come earlier to tell them the importance of brushing teeth and going to dentists regularly.
