Urban Health Resource Centre (UHRC)

About:
Urban Health Resource Centre is a non-profit organization which addresses the health concerns of the poor living in underserved slum settlements in India . UHRC has been institutionalized in November 2005 from the Environmental Health Project (EHP) India, a USAID supported project, initiated in March 2002.

Main Objectives of the Organization are to:
1.Develop innovative urban health programmes in cities of different sizes which can be adapted by the government and non-government agencies.
2.Strengthen Urban Health programming approaches and capacities at different levels among the Government and Non- Government partners.
3.Increase availability of urban poor specific health information and programme experiences among various stakeholders through research, documentation and dissemination.
4.Advocate enhanced attention on urban health, targeted policies and increased allocation of resources for slum dwellers.
5.Demonstrate and advocate for empowerment of slum communities, especially women as a means to achieve and sustain improvements in health care.
